The Blue Beat DJ Collective

 

The Blue Beat Collective is Blue Bear’s DJ collective for teens: a place for middle- and high-school DJs to build their skills, find their sound, and make music together. They learn the history and theory of DJing and work on their set all semester, and perform at legit venue in SF in December and April.
 
Instruction is done on Pioneer DJ hardware and RekordBox software, and includes beatmatching, mixing/phrasing, song selection (programming), set building, and performance. The students will collaborate with other young DJs, developing their own personal DJ style and also understanding how that fits into the broader Blue Beat collective.

Tuition & Policies

Tuition
  • $695 for 14 weeks; some classes vary
  • Purchase $35 annual Membership and take $20 off class tuition, plus discounted private tutorials with your class teacher (one hour at $50 or two half-hours at $25 each)
  • 3-Pay option available to spread tuition over three months
Class Drops & Refunds

To drop and get a refund, you must let us know two days before the second class meeting. We will be happy to refund 85% of the entire class tuition. After the second meeting, there will be no refunds or transfers of credit. Note that Memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable.
