Brandon Ahlstrom

Brandon Ahlstrom started taking classical piano lessons at age 6 and began studying jazz in his early teens. He also played alto saxophone in high school and college marching band. (Go Bears!)  Inspired by seeing David Grisman play at Yoshi’s in 2010, Brandon picked up the mandolin. His repertoire ranges from American old-time and Celtic fiddle tunes to Baroque violin standards.

Previously working as a classical music publicist in New York, then as a nonprofit administrator and accountant in San Francisco, Brandon has maintained a lifelong dedication to the performing arts. His other musical pursuits include doom metal, fingerstyle blues, and hardware-based electronic music.  He teaches private lessons on piano and mandolin.
